    24 lakh liquor bottles sold on New Year’s eve | Action Punjab


    New Delhi, January 03: Delhi witnessed an unprecedented surge in liquor sales during the New Year’s Eve festivities, marking a historic milestone with a staggering sale of 24 lakh bottles. This notable increase, standing at 18 percent higher than the corresponding date in 2022, reflects a significant uptick in consumer demand.

    Breaking previous records, December 31, 2023, not only surpassed the sales figures from the preceding year but also emerged as the highest single-day sales in December 2023. The reported sale of 24,00,726 bottles on that day notably exceeded the 20,30,664 bottles sold on December 31, 2022, which held the record for the highest sales in December of that year.

    The festive season bolstered the market, as evidenced by the second-highest sales occurring on Christmas Eve in December 2023, totaling 19,42,717 bottles. Comparatively, the same day in 2022 saw 14,69,357 bottles sold, indicating a robust demand during the celebratory period.

    Throughout December 2023, daily sales consistently crossed the 10 lakh mark, underlining sustained consumer interest. Official data from the Excise department highlighted a substantial overall growth in liquor sales during December 2023, reaching a total of 4,97,80,240 bottles across 635 vends. This marked a significant escalation from the 3,99,60,509 bottles sold in December 2022 through 520 shops.

    The momentum continued in the lead-up to New Year’s Eve, with December 30, 2023, recording a sale of 17,79,379 bottles, showcasing sustained demand and surpassing the 14,66,353 bottles sold on the same day in 2022. While the lowest sales in 2023 were recorded on December 5, with 12,84,222 bottles sold, this figure still exceeded the sales from the same day in the previous year, demonstrating consistent market buoyancy. December 4, 2022, marked the lowest sales that year with 9,03,835 bottles sold, falling short of this year’s lowest figure.
