ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Geoffrey R Pyatt, commended India’s naval intervention against the Houthis, highlighting India’s role as a net security provider in the region, which benefits the United States. He emphasised the importance of India-US relations in energy security amid global challenges.
Regarding trade agreements, Pyatt mentioned ongoing negotiations to deepen the trade relationship between the US and India. He metaphorically described the evolving trade relations, comparing them to a ‘Puri’ – big and puffed up – rather than a ‘Chapati’, implying significant growth and expansion.
During his recent visit to India, Pyatt discussed various topics with Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, including energy security, global energy market stability, and mutual concerns regarding geopolitical issues such as Russia’s actions, the Ukraine conflict, and disruptions in global oil markets.
