PTC Web Desk: Farmers, led by Jagjit Singh Dallewal, held a meeting with Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Nityanand Rai, Arjun Munda, and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh late Thursday evening, ahead of their scheduled protest on February 13.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Dallewal acknowledged the Punjab Government’s initiative in facilitating the dialogue.
During the meeting, farmers presented detailed demands with supporting facts, emphasising their concerns. The government assured a thorough examination of the presented facts and expressed a commitment to addressing the issues raised by the farmers.
Jagjit Singh Dallewal conveyed that despite the positive engagement, the planned protest on February 13 will proceed as scheduled. He highlighted the government’s assurance of another upcoming meeting and expressed openness to resolving issues before the scheduled protest if a meeting is convened promptly.
“We had a meeting with the Government today. The meeting was held in a positive atmosphere, Punjab Govt took the initiative. We presented all our demands in detail, with facts…The government listened to us & said that they will examine all our facts seriously…Our program for 13th February will continue as it is. The government has assured us that there will be another meeting soon. If the Government convenes a meeting before the 13th and resolves our issues, it is fine. Otherwise, our program for the 13th will continue as it is,” he said.
