12 killed in 51 terrorist attacks as Pakistan votes | Action Punjab

Pakistan Elections 2024: Pakistan voting for elections 2024 which took place on Thursday with fray between jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) of three-time premier Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is followed by unrest as at least 12 people, including ten security personnel, were killed and 39 others injured in 51 terrorist attacks.

Despite 51 cowardly terrorist attacks, mostly in KP and Balochistan, aimed at disrupting the electoral process, the soldiers remained resolute and effectively ensured peace and security across Pakistan.
In an official statement, ISPR said that as many as 12 people, including 10 personnel from security forces and law enforcement agencies, were killed and 39 others injured in these attacks.

Meanwhile, 137,000 army personnel and civil armed forces were deployed at approximately 6,000 sensitive polling stations and over 7,800 Quick Response Force teams (QRFs) were also on the ground to prevent violence.

The armed forces, along with other law enforcement agencies, are honored to have played a crucial role in ensuring security during the sacred electoral process, assisting civil authorities, and upholding the constitution of Pakistan.
Polling for general elections in Pakistan concluded amid allegations of rigging and the shutdown of cellular and internet services.

The voting process began at 8 am and continued till 5 pm. The Election Commission of Pakistan earlier said that exceptions would only be made for people already inside the polling station.

The development drew severe criticism from major political parties. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari demanded the immediate restoration of mobile phone services across the country.

In another incident, at least two children were killed in a blast near a polling station in Washbood Panjgur.
