    Indian-origin executive Vivek Taneja dies after being assaulted on Washington Street | Action Punjab

    ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: Marking the fifth case of an Indian-American killed in the US this year after the tragic and heart-breaking death of four Indian students including tragic death Shreyas Reddy Beniger and Vivek Saini, another tragic, distressing and horrific incident from Washington came to limelight which gripped tensions and chaos worldwide.

    In yet another dreadful, distressing and spine-chilling incident, 41-year-old Indian-origin executive died earlier this week, days after battling with life-threatening injuries after being assaulted on Washington Street.

    41-year-old Indian-origin was identified as Vivek Chander Taneja , who worked as an executive in Virginia.
    The dreadful case pertains to February 2nd at the 1100 block of 15th Street Northwest, near Shoto Restaurant, around 2 am. 

    Authorities responded to reports of an assault on February 2nd and stated that upon arrival, they discovered Vivek Chander Taneja lying on the pavement with life-threatening injuries and rushed him to the hospital. 

    Initial investigations revealed that Taneja had engaged in a verbal altercation with an unidentified individual that escalated into a physical altercation. 

    Taneja was knocked to the ground, hitting his head on the pavement. Tragically, he succumbed to  injuries in the hospital on Wednesday. 

    Police launches ‘homicide’ investigation 

    Launching a ‘homicide’ investigation in the horrific killing of Vivek Chander Taneja, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch appealed to the public for help in identifying and locating the suspect.

    The police announced a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for each homicide in the District of Columbia.
    Anyone with information regarding this case was urged to contact the police at 202-727-9099.
