    Ex-Intel India chief killed in Navi Mumbai cycle crash | ActionPunjab


    ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: Tragedy struck in Navi Mumbai as former Intel India country head, Avtar Saini, met with a fatal accident while cycling, succumbing to injuries inflicted by a speeding cab.

    The unfortunate incident occurred around 5:50 am on Wednesday on the Palm Beach Road in the Nerul area of Navi Mumbai. Avtar Saini, aged 68, was cycling with fellow riders when a speeding cab collided with his bicycle from behind. The impact of the collision was severe, and despite efforts by his companions to rush him to a nearby hospital, Saini was declared dead upon arrival.

    A resident of suburban Chembur, Saini was a notable figure in the tech industry, particularly for his contributions to Intel’s groundbreaking 386 and 486 microprocessors. Additionally, he played a significant role in the design and development of the Pentium processor during his tenure with the company.

    Authorities have taken action in response to the incident, registering a First Information Report (FIR) against the cab driver under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life), and 304-A (causing death by negligence). Provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act have also been invoked. However, as of now, the accused driver remains at large, with no arrest made yet, as confirmed by an official from the NRI police station.
