Former Union Minister Suresh Pachouri’s BJP joining deals blow to Congress before LS polls | Action Punjab

ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: The Congress party in Madhya Pradesh received a significant blow ahead of the Lok Sabha elections as senior leader and former Union Minister Suresh Pachouri, along with ex-MP Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi and several others, including former MLAs, switched allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday.

The defection occurred just a day after Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra made its way into Gujarat following a brief halt in Madhya Pradesh. The joining ceremony took place at the BJP’s state headquarters in Bhopal, with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state BJP president V D Sharma, and former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in attendance.

Among those who crossed over to the BJP were former MLAs Sanjay Shukla, Arjun Paliya, and Vishal Patel, all prominent figures within the Congress ranks.

He had also held key positions within the state unit of the party, including the presidency of the Madhya Pradesh unit and the Youth Congress.

Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi, a respected tribal leader, had previously represented the Dhar (Scheduled Tribes) Lok Sabha constituency for three terms under the Congress banner. Before joining the Congress, he had also served as a BJP MLA in 1990.
