    Punjab Cabinet okays Excise Policy 2024-25, targets Rs 10,350 crore revenue from liquor sales | ActionPunjab

    PTC Web Desk: The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Saturday approved the Excise Policy for the fiscal year 2024-25. The state aims to generate an annual revenue of Rs 10,350 crore through liquor sales. At a meeting of the Council of Ministers, the policy received approval.

    The Labour Cartage and Transportation Policy for 2023-24 has been extended until July 2024, with plans to introduce and approve a new policy thereafter. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema highlighted that the Council of Ministers has also sanctioned the establishment of two special courts in Tarn Taran and Sangrur to address Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) cases.

    The Punjab Cabinet has also regularised 3,842 posts of employees in the lower courts of the state. In a move to enhance healthcare services, the approval for the creation of 1,300 posts for doctors has been granted. These doctors will be stationed at Mohalla clinics and primary health centres, contributing to the improvement of healthcare accessibility.

    Finance Minister Harpal Cheema provided insights into additional Cabinet decisions, including a policy allowing builders to pay External Development Charges (EDC) in three installments spread over 18 months. The Cabinet has also extended the One-Time Settlement (OTS) policy for the recovery of outstanding Value Added Tax (VAT) dues.
