    Punjab Cabinet okays two new special courts to fast-track POCSO Act cases | ActionPunjab


    Mohali, March 9: The Punjab Cabinet, which met on Saturday, approved the formation of two special courts in Punjab, one in Tarn Taran and another in Sangrur to fast-track POSCO Act cases.

    Addressing mediapersons, Punjab minister Harpal Cheema said the establishment of these special courts aimed at expediting cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. This move was especially significant for cases involving children, ensuring a prompt and fair legal process.

    The Punjab Cabinet also okayed to regularise the appointment of 3,842 temporary positions in the judiciary, strengthening the workforce to handle the increasing caseload. The approval of 1,300 posts for doctors and the creation of 1,300 additional posts in the health sector were also part of the Cabinet’s decisions.

    Notably, 1,300 posts for doctor were approved, addressing the growing need for healthcare professionals. The creation of 1,300 additional posts in the health sector was sanctioned to enhance healthcare infrastructure and services.
