Haryana MP Brijendra Singh quits BJP, joins Congress | ActionPunjab

ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: Haryana MP Brijendra Singh resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined Congress on Sunday. Singh’s move comes as a setback to the saffron party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

On March 10, the MP from Hisar Assembly constituency announced his resignation and cited ‘compelling political reasons’ on social media.

Taking to X, he wrote, “I have resigned from the primary membership of BJP, due to compelling political reasons. I extend gratitude to the party, National President Sh. JP Nadda, Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, & Sh Amit Shah for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Member of Parliament for Hisar.”

Brijendra Singh, son of former union minister Birender Singh, joined Congress.

Following his resignation from the BJP’s primary membership, Singh paid a visit to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence.

Birender Singh departed ways from the Congress in 2014. Following that, the BJP elected him to the Rajya Sabha and appointed him to the central government’s Ministry of Steel. His wife, Premlata, was elected as a legislator from the Uchana district. In 2019, Brijendra Singh ran for and won the Hisar Lok Sabha seat. After ten years, the Singh family is returning to the Congress.
