Amit Shah slams foreign media over CAA, asks them, “Do they have…” | Action Punjab

New Delhi: Days after the Centre notified the Citizenship Amendment Act, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the law will never be taken back and the BJP-led government will never compromise with it.
In an interview, Amit Shah said, “This is our sovereign right to ensure Indian citizenship in our country, we will never compromise on it and CAA will never be taken back.”

Slamming foreign media, Amit Shah asks foreign media that “Do they have triple talaq, Muslim Personal law, provisions like Article 370 in their country.”

Foreign media outlets have been closely examining India’s prohibition of the triple talaq practice in Islam, the revocation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, and the Citizenship Amendment Act, which they view as discriminatory against Muslims.

On March 11, the Union Home Ministry notified rules for the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The CAA, introduced by the Narendra Modi government and passed by Parliament in 2019, aims to confer Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants–including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians–who migrated from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan and arrived in India before December 31, 2014.

Meanwhile, on August 5, 2019, the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah, announced the revocation of Article 370 through a Presidential Order. This action resulted in the removal of the special status previously granted to Jammu and Kashmir, the only Muslim-majority state in India. Additionally, the government restructured the state into two separate Union Territories: Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

The abrogation of Article 370 sparked significant debate and diverse reactions both within India and internationally.
