ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: In a gesture of devotion and craftsmanship, perfumers and traders from Kannauj are sending a ‘chariot load’ of special Attar, rose water, and a blend of natural fragrances to be used in the consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Stored in specially designed containers, this unique chariot is scheduled to depart from Kannauj on Thursday after visiting significant temples in the district. The aromatic treasures aboard include fine quality rose water, as well as fragrances derived from Kevra, Khus, Jasmine, and Shamama.

The purpose behind this aromatic procession is to present these fragrances to the temple management, which will then use them in the ‘Abhishek’ ritual during Ram Lalla’s pran-pratishtha on the day of the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. Pawan Trivedi, the president of the Attar Association, expressed the collective desire of Kannauj traders for the district’s fragrance to become an integral part of the sacred ceremony.

As the chariot made its way through various local temples, devout followers of Lord Ram welcomed it with fervor, showering flower petals as a symbolic gesture of reverence. The procession was later received by Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, on Thursday evening.

Pawan Trivedi shared that the specially prepared attar for this significant occasion contains a secret blend of herbs, ensuring that the temple town will be immersed in the unique fragrance of Kannauj on the day of the consecration ceremony. “Shamama, a secret mixture of herbs, has been used in making this special perfume,” Trivedi disclosed. Shamama, an essential oil, is meticulously crafted by the skilled artisans of Kannauj.

In essence, the fragrant contributions from Kannauj aim not only to enhance the spiritual atmosphere of the consecration ceremony but also to envelop the entire temple premises in a captivating aroma on the momentous day of January 22.
