Delhi tragedy: Dog attacks have long been a subject of debate in India. The problem of dogs attack and bite cases became widespread in India posing various challenges to public health and safety. 

The escalating population of dog attack in urban and rural areas has led to an increase in incidents involving dog bites, posing a threat to pedestrians, especially children, and leading to a surge in cases of dog bites. 

In a horrific, shocking and heart-wrenching incident, a two-year-old child was attacked by pet dog- German Shepherd and mother fall on ground as she tries to release toddler from dog attack, marking this third such incident in Delhi in a month.

The distressing incident unfolded on streets of Delhi’s Vishwas Nagar and the horrific visuals was captured on CCTV footage.

In the CCTV footage, a German Shepherd one of the pet dogs, aggressively approached the woman, pulling the child’s leg with its jaw. Further in the video, the woman can be seen falling to the ground while attempting to free the toddler from the dog’s grip.

Soon, more dogs from the street attempted to harm the child, before the people standing nearby came to rescue the woman and the toddler.

Earlier, in another dreadful incident a seven-year-old sustained over 15 injuries after being attacked by a neighbor’s dog in the Sector-25 area of Rohini, Delhi. The distressing incident unfolded when girl was playing with friends within her housing society, when an American Bully dog attacked her and she suffered severe injuries to her hand, back, behind her ear, leg, and under her eyes.

Dogs can pose health risks, as they may carry diseases such as rabies. Incidents of dog bites and the transmission of diseases to humans are concerns associated with the stray dog population.
