SKM urges farmers to make ‘Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat’ on March 14 peaceful | Action Punjab

ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has urged farmers and workers to join the ‘Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat’ on March 14 in large numbers and in peace.

According to the report, preparations are underway to ensure widespread participation and make the event politically significant and successful, the SKM stated in a press release.

The Mahapanchayat will adopt a Sankalp Patra, or Letter of Resolution, to strengthen the fight against the Modi Government’s pro-corporate, communal, and dictatorial policies, and to protect farming, food security, livelihood, and people from corporate looting.

“In the context of the forthcoming general election to the Lok Sabha, the Maha Panchayat will declare the future plan of action of how to intensify the ongoing struggle to achieve the genuine demands of the farmers as well as the workers,” the statement said.

SKM called on all mass and class organisations, as well as worker, student, youth, and women’s unions, to join the Mahapanchayat.

The Delhi Police has issued the NOC for the Mahapanchayat to be held on March 14 at Ramlila Maidan, as well as the arrangement of parking space and other basic amenities such as water, toilets, and ambulances, with the support of the Delhi Municipal Administration.

“Farmers from nearby states will join the Mahapanchayat. The majority of the farmers are coming by train. The Buses and four-wheelers will have window stickers apart from the flags of the respective organisations to facilitate hassle-free transportation to Delhi and after dropping farmers will be parked in the allocated spots.”
