Scam alert! QR code fraud to loot devotees surfaces ahead of Ram Temple event | Action Punjab

Scam alert: A scam targeting devotees under the guise of seeking donations for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has surfaced just days before the much-anticipated consecration ceremony. The scam was flagged on social media by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) spokesperson Vinod Bansal, who warned people of cybercriminals attempting to defraud people by creating fake ID in the name of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra.

According to the complaint filed by a VHP leader, a miscreant named Abhishek Kumar is trying to raise funds for the development of the Ayodhya temple by circulating a QR code on social media. When the user scans the code, the UPI directs them to a UPI ID with the name Manisha Nallabelly.

Bansal wrote in his complaint letter to the union home ministry and the police chiefs of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, “Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has clarified many times that no private person or people are authorised to collect funds for the temple.”

“At a time when the entire nation is celebrating the Ram temple inauguration, such preposterous actions should be nipped in the bud,” he went on to say.

“Some people are trying to cheat money by making fake ID in the name of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. @HMOIndia @CPDelhi @dgpup @Uppolice should take delayed action against such people. @ShriRamTeerth has not authorized any body to collect funds for this occasion,” he wrote.

The rituals for the Ram Temple’s consecration ceremony will begin on January 16 and will last seven days, until January 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the idol installation ceremony at the grand temple.
