Congress rename Rahul’s march, shares route | Action Punjab

‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’: Congress renamed Rahul Gandhi’s yatra 2.0, which began on January 14, as the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ saying they would invite all INDIA bloc leaders to join the march wherever they could.

Coming in the run-up to the next Lok Sabha elections, when the Congress is still reeling from defeats in the heartland states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan, the grand old party is banking on the yatra, which will take it from Manipur to Mumbai, for some momentum that it can carry into the crucial electoral test.

In a post on Thursday, Congress general secretary in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh detailed the route map of the yatra to be undertaken by the Wayanad MP.

The yatra will begin on January 14 in Manipur’s capital, Imphal, and will end on March 20 in the country’s commercial capital, Mumbai.

It will march through 15 states, 110 districts, and 110 Lok Sabha seats, covering 6,713 kilometres in 67 days. The yatris will spend the most time of 11 days in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh.

While in Uttar Pradesh, which has the most Lok Sabha members, the yatris will travel 1,074 kilometres through 20 districts.

The party has also expanded the scope of its yatra by including Arunachal Pradesh on the route.

“Here is the route map of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra being launched by the Indian National Congress from Manipur to Mumbai on January 14, 2024. @RahulGandhi will cover over 6700 kms in 66 days going through 110 districts,” Ramesh stated.

He went on to say that the party hoped the march would be as impactful and transformative as the previous ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.
