INDIA bloc settles seat sharing in Maharashtra, process underway in UP | Action Punjab

ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: Maharashtra’s Maha Vikas Aghadi, an alliance of Shiv Sena UBT, Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress, has reached an agreement on the division of the state’s 48 seats, according to media reports. Following a meeting this evening, Sena’s Sanjay Raut stated that his smile was “an indicator” of how the meeting went.

“We are all together and will be united… we have discussed each and every seat,” Raut said following the nearly three-hour-long meeting.

“We will be the first state to announce seat numbers… The Shiv Sena may have split, but the people support the Uddhav faction and the NCP… We will be together for the elections,” senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, the party’s state in-charge, said while talking to NDTV.

Salman Khurshid of the Congress, who attended the meeting for Uttar Pradesh, stated that things were moving in the “right direction”. “We’re on the same page, and I believe we could communicate very well,” he said, calling it an “excellent meeting.”

Seat-sharing discussions are unlikely to be easy for the Congress, given its strained relationship with a number of opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party, and the Trinamool Congress.
