No Bikes, autos, tractors allowed on India’s longest sea bridge | Action Punjab

Mumbai Trans Harbour Link: The maximum speed limit for 4-wheelers on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) will be 100 kmph. Meanwhile, motorbikes, autorickshaws and tractors will not be permitted on the sea bridge, police said Wednesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the MTHL, also known as Atal Setu and named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on January 12, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.

An official stated that vehicles such as cars, taxis, light motor vehicles, minibuses, and two-axle buses will be limited to 100 kilometres per hour. The speed limit will be 40 kmph on the bridge’s ascent and descent, he said.

According to the official, the Mumbai police have imposed a speed limit on India’s longest sea bridge to reduce “danger, obstructions, and inconvenience to the public”.

The Rs 18,000-crore MTHL originates from Sewri in Mumbai and ends at Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka in Raigad district.

He stated that multi-axle heavy vehicles, trucks and buses bound for Mumbai will not be permitted to use the Eastern Freeway.

These vehicles will have to take the Mumbai Port-Sewri Exit (Exit 1C) and then the MBPT Road near ‘Gadi Adda’ for further movement, he said.

Motorcycles, mopeds, three-wheelers, autos, tractors, animal-drawn vehicles, and slow-moving vehicles will not be permitted entry, he stated.

The MTHL is a 6-lane sea link that stretches for 16.50 kilometres on the sea and 5.5 kilometres on the land. Motorists will be able to travel the distance between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai in 20 minutes, which would otherwise take two hours.
