    7-year-old girl receives 15 injuries after American Bully dog attack | Action Punjab


    Delhi tragedy: Dog attacks have long been a subject of debate in India. The problem of dogs attack and bite cases became widespread in India posing various challenges to public health and safety. 

    The escalating population of dog attack in urban and rural areas has led to an increase in incidents involving dog bites, posing a threat to pedestrians, especially children, and leading to a surge in cases of dog bites. 

    In a horrific, dreadful and heart-wrenching incident a seven-year-old sustained over15 injuries after being attacked by a neighbor’s dog in the Sector-25 area of Rohini, Delhi. 

    The distressing incident unfolded on January 9 when seven-year-old girl was playing with friends within her housing society, when an American Bully dog attacked her and she suffered severe injuries to her hand, back, behind her ear, leg, and under her eyes.

    In response to the dog menace in the area, several members of the society held a protest against dog menace in their area. 

    Deciding to file an FIR against the uncooperative owner of the dog, father of seven-year-old girl, Shrikant Bhagat said, “Since the dog owner remains uncooperative, we have decided to file an FIR against him, citing that his pet was not on a leash, who runs a coaching center in Mukherjee Nagar.” 

    Police have registered a case under sections 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animal), and 337 (whoever causes hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others) of the IPC.

    Meanwhile, expressing gratitude, Shrikant Bhagat said, “I thank God that she fought back and started screaming, due to which we reached the spot on time and were able to save her life.” The seven-year-old is currently under the trauma and is unable to sleep for more than three days. 

    In response to the horrific incident, residents of the victim’s society marched protest against the prevalence of the dog menace in their area. During the protest, demonstrators chanted slogans like “dog feeding band karo” (stop feeding stray dogs) and “dog lovers saavdhaan, khatron me hai bachchon ki jaan” (dog lovers be aware, the lives of children are in danger).

    Dogs can pose health risks, as they may carry diseases such as rabies. Incidents of dog bites and the transmission of diseases to humans are concerns associated with the stray dog population.
