Kishor’s warning on Nitish Kumar’s return to BJP analysed | Action Punjab

ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: In the aftermath of Nitish Kumar’s resignation as the Chief Minister of Bihar and his swift realignment with the BJP, political strategist Prashant Kishor has boldly predicted a short tenure for the newly formed Janata Dal (United)-BJP alliance in the state. Kumar’s departure from the Mahagathbandhan alliance set the stage for this political shift.

Expressing his views to the press, Kishor asserted that the alliance between Janata Dal (United) and BJP in Bihar is unlikely to withstand the test of time, speculating that it won’t endure until the scheduled 2025 Bihar assembly elections. Kishor, known for his strategic insights, stated, “The formation that currently exists, in which Nitish Kumar is the face of the NDA and has the BJP’s backing, won’t exist until the (Bihar) assembly elections. I can give you this in writing.” He further predicted a significant change within six months of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Nitish Kumar, in an unexpected turn of events, was sworn in as the Chief Minister for a record ninth time, leading a government formed in collaboration with the BJP-led NDA. The swearing-in ceremony, which took place at 5 pm on Sunday, included the oath-taking of two Deputy Chief Ministers, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, along with six other cabinet ministers.

Reflecting on the political landscape in Bihar, Prashant Kishor recalled his earlier statement in 2022 when Nitish Kumar exited the NDA alliance. At that time, Kishor expressed his hope for political stability in Bihar, highlighting that changes in alliances often occur when political or administrative expectations remain unmet. Kishor had emphasised the significance of fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Bihar.

Drawing parallels to his past predictions about the fate of the Mahagathbandhan alliance, which included Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress, Kishor reiterated his foresight for the race leading up to the 2025 elections. He noted, “Pichli baar bhi maine kaha tha (I had said last time as well).”

Nitish Kumar, explaining his decision to quit the Mahagathbandhan alliance, cited dissatisfaction with the prevailing state of affairs. He mentioned receiving suggestions from various quarters, including his party workers, and highlighted that the circumstances compelled him to step down. After submitting his resignation to Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the JD(U) veteran addressed reporters, shedding light on the circumstances that led to his departure.
