Teen suicide tragedy in Kota this year | Action Punjab

ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: In a tragic incident in Kota, Rajasthan, an 18-year-old aspiring Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) candidate took her own life, marking the second such suicide in the city in almost a week and the second this year. Niharika Singh, a resident of Kota’s Borkheda area, was found hanging at her residence just two days before her scheduled JEE examination.

Despite swift efforts by her family and immediate hospitalisation, Niharika succumbed to her injuries upon arrival. The local police have launched an investigation, including a post-mortem examination, to understand the circumstances leading to this heartbreaking decision.

A suicide note recovered alongside Niharika’s body revealed her deep distress and sense of failure regarding her inability to crack the JEE. In the note addressed to her parents, she referred to herself as “the worst daughter” and expressed her despair, stating, “Mummy and Papa, I can’t do JEE. So, I am committing suicide. I am a loser. I am the reason. I am the worst daughter. Sorry, Mummy and Papa. This is the last option.”

This incident follows another suicide in Kota on January 23, where a 17 or 18-year-old student, Mohammad Zaid from Moradabad, studying for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in Kota, was found hanging in his hostel room. In that case, no suicide note was discovered.
