Google Pixel Phones: As part of its ambition to sell more than 10 million Pixel phones this year, Alphabet Inc’s Google has urged suppliers to begin manufacturing its Pixel smartphones in India by the next quarter at the earliest, according to the Nikkei newspaper on Thursday.
Google will begin manufacturing smartphones in India, and its flagship Pixel 8 will be available in 2024, the company announced last October.
The move will also help Google diversify its supply chain away from China, according to a Nikkei report quoting a person with direct knowledge of the situation.
According to various sources, the tech giant will construct production lines for its high-end Pixel 8 Pro smartphones in the next weeks and begin production in the April-June quarter.
The report did not specify how many phones Google intends to produce in India, or if they will be sold domestically or exported.
