March 2024 Bank Holidays: For all those who work in banks on a regular schedule, even two or three day bank holidays offer a much-needed break from the daily grind. Usually Bank holidays are mostly associated with festivals, cultural events, parades, etc.

As the month of February is commencing soon with two days left to welcome the month of March, it’s a chance to relax, recharge and spend quality time with your loved ones. 

March is the third month of the year in both the Julian and Gregorian calendars. Its length is 31 days. The Month to witness the auspicious festival of Mahashivratri and Holi.

During this month, if you are planning to complete your long-pending crucial paperwork at bank, you must be aware of the upcoming bank holidays in March, including the second and fourth Saturdays as well as Sundays. 

According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar, banks will be shut for 14 days in various states and districts across Nation in the month of March.

March 2024 Bank Holidays    

March 1, 2024 (Friday): Banks are remain closed in Mizoram on account of Chapchar Kut
March 7, 2024 (Sunday): Both private and public banks will remain closed across the Nation
March 8, 2024(Friday): Banks to be closed across various states on auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri/ Shivaratri
March 9, 2024 (Second Saturday): Banks to be closed as it is Second Saturday 
March 10, 2024 (Sunday): Both private and public banks will remain closed across the Nation

March 17, 2023 (Sunday): Both private and public banks will remain closed across the Nation
March 22, 2024 (Friday): Banks to be closed in Bihar on account of Bihar Divas
March 23, 2024 (Saturday): Banks to be closed in several states on account of Bhagat Singh Martyrdom Day
March 24, 2024 (Sunday) : Banks to be closed in several states on account of Holika Dahana

March 25, 2024 (Monday) : Gazetted Holiday on account of Holi 
March 26, 2024 (Tuesday): Banks are remain closed in Mizoram on account of Manipur’s popular festivals Yaosang

March 29, 2024 (Thursday): Banks to be closed in several states on account of Maundy Thursday 
March 29, 2024 (Friday): Banks to be closed in several states on account of Good Friday 
March 31, 2024  (Sunday): Restricted Holiday in banks 

The Reserve Bank has notified the holidays under three brackets — the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

Online Banking Services to continue 

On the above mentioned holidays, although the banks will be closed, the online banking services will be active which will allow customers to access their bank accounts and perform various transactions at any time, day or night, from virtually anywhere with an internet connection.
