ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: The Punjab State Government has reinstated Baldev Singh Sran as the Chief Managing Director (CMD) of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for a second term. Sran’s appointment comes with a one-year tenure, with the possibility of extension for another year.
Previously, a screening-cum-selection committee, led by the Chief Secretary, had identified five candidates for the position. Sran had retired from his role as CMD PSPCL on June 6, 2020, after completing a successful two-year term. Renowned for his expertise in power purchase agreements, Sran is anticipated to navigate these intricacies with the backing of political support.
Under his previous leadership, marked improvements were witnessed across the Punjab power sector, including a steadfast crackdown on power theft and corruption.
Notably, during his tenure, the PSPCL achieved unprecedented milestones, such as the sale of surplus power during summer, resulting in a substantial profit of over ₹1,183 crore, with a profit margin of Rs453 crore.
