Congress confirms Sukhwinder Sukhu’s continuation as Chief Minister | Action Punjab

ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: The political turmoil in the Himachal Pradesh Congress government, under the leadership of Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, seems to have been effectively addressed.

Following their disqualification for cross-voting in favor of the BJP during the Rajya Sabha election, six Congress MLAs are preparing to challenge their disqualification in the High Court. These members were officially disqualified by the speaker of the Himachal assembly in accordance with the anti-defection law.

“Six MLAs, who contested on Congress symbol, attracted provisions of the anti-defection law against themselves…I declare that the six people cease to be members of the Himachal Pradesh assembly with immediate effect,” stated Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania.

Despite the upheaval caused by the cross-voting incident and a ministerial revolt, the Congress government has successfully quelled the political crisis. Under the leadership of Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Congress government passed the budget on Wednesday. Additionally, Minister Vikramaditya Singh announced that he will withhold his resignation until discussions with party leaders are concluded, offering a respite to the Congress party.
