US presidential race: After ex-US President Donald Trump’s Super Tuesday triumph, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley suspended her campaign for the Republican presidential nomination on Wednesday.
Despite the odds, Haley had been vying for the GOP presidential nomination, but she decided to withdraw on Wednesday.
The former UN ambassador is scheduled to speak in Charleston, South Carolina, at 10 a.m. ET. According to people familiar with the situation, she plans to make the announcement during her speech.
Trump and President Joe Biden both dominated Super Tuesday polls as they prepared for a November rematch.
Haley won Vermont, dashing Trump’s hopes of a clean sweep. Trump, on the other hand, won several states including Virginia, Massachusetts, and Maine.
With Haley’s departure, Trump will be the last major candidate for the Republican nomination in 2024.
