    Cold spell persists in north India, rain expected in some areas tomorrow | ActionPunjab


    New Delhi, January 07: As severe cold conditions persist across northern India, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, citizens are set to endure a bone-chilling spell for the next 2–3 days, accompanied by dense fog.

    On Sunday morning, many parts of northern India and certain central regions experienced severe cold conditions, with maximum temperatures settling below the usual norms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that cold wave conditions will persist in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh for the next 2–3 days.

    The IMD’s statement indicated, “Cold Day to Severe Cold Day conditions are likely to continue over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan during the next 2 days and significant decrease thereafter.”

    Additionally, the weather department forecasts a fresh spell of rain accompanied by thunderstorm or hailstorm activity over Northwest and Central India (specifically Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh) from January 8 to 10.

    A continuation of dense to very dense fog is expected over northwest India for the next two days, gradually decreasing thereafter. The IMD noted, “Dense to very dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail for a few hours in the night/morning in some parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan on 07th and dense fog in isolated pockets for the subsequent two days.”

    Weather experts highlight the likelihood of another western disturbance affecting northwest India from January 8. Between January 9 and 10, the IMD predicts the possibility of rain and snowfall across Himachal Pradesh. Residents are advised to stay prepared for the continued cold wave conditions and potential weather-related disruptions during this period.
