Lalu Yadav proposes deputy CM role to Jitan Manjhi’s son: Sources | ActionPunjab

ACTION PUNJAB NEWS Desk: In the midst of growing tensions between JD(U) and RJD in Bihar, sources have revealed that former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has made a strategic move to strengthen the coalition. Reports suggest that Lalu Yadav has offered the post of Deputy Chief Minister to Jitan Ram Manjhi’s son, Santosh Manjhi, in an attempt to foster unity within the Mahagathbandhan.

Signs of heightened political activity were noted at Lalu Yadav’s residence in Patna on Friday, coinciding with the speculation surrounding the discord between the two prominent political parties in the state. The reported offer includes the Deputy Chief Minister position for Santosh Manjhi and the promise of certain Lok Sabha seats if he decides to align with the Mahagathbandhan.

In response to these developments, Santosh Manjhi, in an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak, expressed his steadfast commitment to the NDA. “We are with the NDA; such offers keep coming,” he affirmed. As the political landscape unfolds, the Lalu Yadav camp is strategically calculating the numbers to secure the 122-mark for maintaining power in the state. In a hypothetical scenario where Nitish Kumar withdraws JD(U) from the ruling alliance, the RJD would need eight additional MLAs to reach the required majority in the state assembly.

The rift between Bihar’s longest-serving Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, and the Opposition INDIA bloc continues to widen. Nitish Kumar has voiced dissatisfaction, citing a lack of a position in the alliance befitting his stature. Furthermore, he advocates for an early assembly poll, a proposal met with resistance from the RJD, the dominant party in the state’s ruling alliance.

Tensions between JD(U) and RJD leaders have escalated, leading to mutual criticisms and concerns among Kumar’s supporters about potential undermining in both governance and politics. To address these concerns, the RJD has taken steps to ease tensions by demoting Education Minister Chandra Shekhar to a less significant portfolio in the government.

Simultaneously, BJP leaders held intensive meetings, hinting at the possibility of Nitish Kumar rejoining the party. While Bihar BJP president Samrat Choudhary maintained that the meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, speculation suggests that the BJP-led NDA is open to welcoming Kumar back into the fold, marking a potential shift in Bihar’s political landscape.
