Kota (Rajasthan),Match 8: Tragedy struck in Kota, Rajasthan, on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, as a major incident occurred during a procession. Several children came into contact with a live electric current while participating in a Shiva procession. One child’s condition is reported to be serious.
Rajasthan Healh Minister Heeralal Nagar said, “It’s a very sad incident… Two children are seriously injured with one having 100% burns. A special team has been formed to provide all possible treatment. Officials are directed to investigate if there has been any kind of negligence…”
Upon receiving news of the incident, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla along with Heeralal Nagar police and administrative officials, rushed to the scene. The incident took place near Kunhari Thermal crossing, causing a commotion. More than 10 children were affected by the current, leading to their admission to MBS Hospital.
Various children admitted to the hospital displayed signs of electric shock on their limbs. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also visited the hospital and, after learning about the condition of the injured children, assured that a dedicated medical team was attending to them. While most children are reported to be in stable condition, two are in critical condition due to severe burns.
The incident occurred near the Kalibasti area close to the thermal power plant during the Mahashivratri celebration, where a Shiva procession was being taken out. The procession included a significant number of children carrying flags. Unfortunately, during this event, a flag came into contact with a high-tension line, leading to the spread of electrical current.
